WAS THE WORLD CREATED IN SIX DAYS?

The word day is used 2301 times in the old testament. It is always the hebrew word yom. This means it is always the same word with the same meaning; a 24 hour period. Some have tried to say that the days in Genesis may sometimes mean 1000 years, taking Peter literally in his letter and applying it to Genesis.
We have a verse however that clears all the controversy up.

Exodus 20:11
11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

We all know the sabbath is a single day and by placing it with the other six we have no reason to apply the six days of creation in any other way.
